How to tie the Non-Slip Loop Knot knot
Also known as Kreh Loop, Lefty's Loop.
A fixed loop knot that gives lures and flies free, natural movement instead of choking them down against the eye. It is a go-to for jerkbaits, jigs, and flies.
Best for
Giving lures and flies more action, especially for inshore predators, and any presentation where you want the bait to swing freely.
Strength
Strong, around 90 to 95 percent of line strength
Difficulty
moderate
Tying the Non-Slip Loop Knot, step by step
- 1Make an overhand knot in the line, leaving it loose, and pass the tag end through the eye.
- 2Bring the tag end back through the open overhand knot.
- 3Wrap the tag end around the standing line four to six times.
- 4Feed the tag end back through the overhand knot again, entering from the same side it exited.
- 5Wet the knot and pull slowly to seat it, adjusting the loop size before it locks.
- 6Trim the tag end close to the finished knot.
Tips
- • Set your loop size before final tightening, since it locks in once seated.
- • Use four wraps on heavier leaders and five to six on lighter line for a secure lock.
Strengths
- + Lets lures and flies move freely
- + Strong and dependable when seated correctly
Watch out for
- - Easy to tie incorrectly if the tag re-enters the wrong way
- - Slightly bulky on very light line
