Tying the Blood Knot, step by step

  1. 1Overlap the two lines and wrap one tag end around the other line five to seven times.
  2. 2Bring that tag end back and pass it between the two lines where they cross.
  3. 3Wrap the second tag end around the first line the same number of times in the opposite direction.
  4. 4Pass the second tag end back through the same center gap, from the opposite side.
  5. 5Wet the knot and pull both standing lines to draw the wraps together.
  6. 6Seat the knot firmly and trim both tag ends close.
